поймать, уловка, крючок. Как и со словом call, и обычных, и сленговых значений здесь масса.Catch-22 (Уловка-22) — это выражение означает - невыполнимая задача. В Америке его знает каждый, и используется оно, в силу обилия таких ситуаций, постоянно. Произошло вот откуда. "Catch-22" - название романа Джозефа Хеллера. В нем описана ситуация, когда к человеку предъявляют строгие и взаимоисключающие требования.
Catch on — ухватить, в смысле понять, усечь. Did he catch on? - До него дошло?
Catch hell — смысл, думается, довольно прозрачен - наказали человека или грубо отшили. Дословно - поиметь ад.
Catch (someone) redhanded — поймать с поличным. См. также - Catch him with his pants down (PANTS).
Catch you later — типа: бегу, поговорим потом (буквально: поймаю позже).

штаны. С ними, как и в русском языке, полно двусмысленных выражений. См. рис.
(Реклама на прачечной: "Drop свои штаны (pants) — и тебе немедленно окажут внимание". Но "drop" переводится и как "занеси", и как "скинь") к "Тесту на испорченность".Catch him with his pants down — замечательное образное выражение, дословно - поймать, когда штаны спущены. Смысл, конечно, не буквальный, означает - застать человека, совершающего нечто постыдное, в момент, когда это очевидно и возможности выкрутиться нет.
Charm the pants off someone — втереться к кому-то в доверие. Дословно - очаровать так, что штаны снимет.
Dust someone's pants — шлепнуть по попе (например, ребенка). Дословно - выбить пыль из штанов.
Fancy pants — чересчур хорошо одетый. Буквально - стильные штаны.
Заметим, что этот оборот существует не зря. Одеваться надо в соответствии с ситуацией, и строгий костюм на пляже выглядит так же нелепо, как яркая футболка в офисе.Fancy pants иногда используется и в смысле "sissy" (женоподобный) - но выражение со штанами более мягкое. (см. комментарии к PINK)Fly by the seat of one's pants = seat-of-the-pants — действовать по инстинкту (чувствам, понятиям), а не по точным инструкциям (нормам, закону). Такое поведение не одобряется.

Have lead in one's pants — это тот, кого у нас называют "половой гигант", а также мужчина сексуально озабоченный. Причем подразумевается, что эту озабоченность видно непосредственно, ну прямо выпирает. Дословно - свинец в штанах.Hot pants — очень, очень сексуально активный, горячий. His hot pants will get him in trouble. (Его любовный азарт принесет ему беду).

Smarty-pants (smart-ass, smarty) — сообразительный, хитрюга - с оттенком пренебрежения. Наше "хитрожопый" хоть и очень похоже, но не совсем то: в английском выражении не просматриваются злостные намерения.
